The 2025 Ghost Ships Festival will be held in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1, announced the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association. The event, usually held in Milwaukee, will offer the public two days of exciting events, lectures and hands-on experiences centered around historic shipwrecks on the Great Lakes.
Held at the Inn on Maritime Bay, the festival will feature 3D tours of newly discovered shipwrecks using virtual reality, along with the opportunity for attendees to pilot ROVs over a “shipwreck” in the event center’s pool. The event will also highlight the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and will include presentations from scholars and professionals, including underwater archeologists, shipwreck hunters and documentary producers, along with live music, merchandise booths and exhibits.
The festival will culminate with the reveal of a new shipwreck discovered in Lake Superior. Friday night admission is free to the public, courtesy of the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Registration is required for Saturday events. Pre-registration costs $25 for the full two-day event, or $30 at the door. Youth under 18 receive free admission.
