Formula 380 SSC

A sporty day cruiser with comfy overnight accommodations.

by Craig Ritchie

The all-new 380 Super Sport Crossover (SSC) is the latest model in Formula’s lineup of open-bow, full-cabin dayboats, filling a gap between the company’s 330 and 350 Crossover Bowriders and its 400 and 430 SSC and ASC models.

The 380 SSC inherits the popular triple command seating of its larger siblings, while its composite dash features a standard Raymarine Axiom 12 GPS widescreen color chartplotter. A full-width hardtop with a motorized glass sunroof allows owners to make the most of a beautiful day afloat while providing added protection in less than perfect weather. Available reverse-cycle air conditioning keeps things comfy on the hottest summer days, while in any weather the boat’s spacious U-shaped lounge to starboard and facing portside divan offer versatile spaces for lunch, basking in the sun or enjoying a relaxing twilight cruise.

Corian-surfaced aft cockpit tables with filler cushions and dedicated storage beneath can be raised or lowered for entertaining or sun lounging as desired. The portside galley features a Corian countertop, fiberglass molded sink with faucet, stainless pull-out fridge, trash container, paper towel holder and a Cuisinart blender. Add the available 120V Kenyon electric grill and you’re ready to prepare gourmet fare.

A spacious, rear-facing sun lounge with individual backrests is the ideal spot to watch the sunset. Spring for the available SureShade electric sun shade to give this space all-day comfort.

Down below, a fully-appointed cabin boasts 6 feet, 5 inches of headroom. A U-shaped Ultraleather lounge with a dual-height, high-gloss wood table can accommodate guests for dinner or can be lowered for sleeping. There’s a second kitchen located to starboard with a sink, microwave and trash container, and a stainless refrigerator to port. The standard 32-inch LCD HDTV with Blu-ray player handles late-night entertainment.

“The 380 SSC stands out for boaters on the Great Lakes because it can take the conditions big lakes can dish out while offering comfortable accommodations, including a ‘sleeping for four’ cabin with a wet galley and separate stand-up head,” says Formula Boats President Scott Porter. “At the same time, it is the perfect harbor jumper, nimble and maneuverable, and the perfect size for a lake dock.”
