Grand Banks 44 Eastbay SX

Grand Banks is expanding its Downeast Eastbay lineup, and, considering how impressive its existing 46-, 50-, and 55-foot models are, there’s reason for celebration. Scheduled to launch this fall at the Newport Boat Show, the new 44 Eastbay SX is the smallest member of the Eastbay family. But don’t assume that this newcomer is small on luxury, performance, or styling — that’s just not the Eastbay way.

Grand Banks is expanding its Downeast Eastbay lineup, and, considering how impressive its existing 46-, 50-, and 55-foot models are, there’s reason for celebration. Scheduled to launch this fall at the Newport Boat Show, the new 44 Eastbay SX is the smallest member of the Eastbay family. But don’t assume that this newcomer is small on luxury, performance, or styling — that’s just not the Eastbay way.  

The 44 Eastbay SX topside sports a distinctive but graceful look. An elegant sheerline rises dramatically to the bow, while steep topsides and nearly plumb stern give the 44 a “shippy” look. A large aft cockpit serves as the premier outside entertaining space, clad in teak decking and plush, comfortable seating.

The 44 Eastbay SX is powered by twin Volvo IPS 600 pod drives, each of which is mated to a Volvo D5 435-horsepower turbo diesel. This means owners will not only appreciate joystick steering controls, but also the inherent efficiency and speed offered by this power train. Grand Banks expects the new 44 Eastbay to top out in the 35-knot range, with cruise speeds in the mid to high 20s, depending on how efficiently you want to cruise. That’s fast for a boat this size and type, in case you were wondering. What this means is that you’ll be able to cover more cruising area in less time, so you can expand your weekend and vacation exploration radius.

The 44 Eastbay SX is available with a standard 2- or optional 3-cabin layout, fitted with warm, rich and bright interiors trimmed in Malaysian teak, leather and stone. The master stateroom is forward in both layout schemes, fitted with a large island berth and its own head and enclosed shower. One or two guest cabins sit aft of it, depending on layout, and they share a common head/shower that’s accessed via a central landing. The main salon features a galley up to starboard behind the helm seating, which enhances serving guests in the cockpit — and at the expansive C-shaped dinette — to port inside the salon.
