A great dayboat with cruiser comforts.
by Craig Ritchie
Monterey has long enjoyed a dedicated following on the strength of its high-quality construction and innovative designs.
The company once again raises the bar with its all-new 2017 360 Sport Coupe.
Despite being built for a global market, the 360SC could have been designed specifically for the Great Lakes. It features a versatile seating arrangement that really makes the most of the open, flowing layout. A sumptuous L-shaped cockpit lounge features a fully-adjustable rear seatback that allows traditional forward-facing seating or aft-facing lounging. It can also be laid flat to turn this space into an inviting rear sunpad. In the forward-facing position, it’s a perfect companion to the removable pedestal-mount cockpit table for dining al fresco.
Dual electric-sliding helm/companion seats, which can be adjusted for forward-facing or aft-facing seating, along with dual wetbars located to port and starboard, create an open seating area with a L-lounge and cockpit table. When closed, a sliding door between the dash consoles has integrated steps that lead to the bow sunpad.
Slide open the door to access the boat’s generous accommodations. Below deck, a luxuriously-appointed cabin awaits, featuring a queen-size midcabin berth and a spacious V-berth, which converts into a dinette and seating area with a solid wood table. The fully-equipped galley to starboard is spacious, brightly lit and well appointed with a surprising amount of storage space. A portside, enclosed fiberglass head features a vanity, sink and shower head. Full windows adorn the interior of the cabin, allowing you to never miss a moment while underway.
“With the growing demand for dayboating, the 360SC offers amenities that a full family of eight to 10 people can enjoy,” says Phil Froman, of Great Lakes Yacht Sales. “Best of all, it’s designed to require minimal maintenance, so at the end of the day you just dock it, zip up the covers and walk away.”
Base power for the 360SC are twin MerCruiser 6.2L 350s, which provide a maximum speed of more than 40 mph when paired with a Bravo III drive. A number of gas and diesel power upgrades from MerCruiser and Volvo Penta are also available.
