Regal 42 Fly

A new perspective.

By Alan Wendt

Regal calls the new 42 Fly its most innovative luxury boat in nearly 50 years, and it’s easy to see why.

Massive windows, an open-air atrium and creative bridge seating create a sense of spaciousness and an abundance of natural light. Advancements in boat building technology — specifically a perfect glass to resin ratio — create a new signature look that offers a window on the world.

Rich Gotlund, a Regal dealer at Basa’s Marine in Bolingbrook, Illinois, points out the commanding view from the flybridge is “exceptional — a prime location for navigating and entertaining.” The starboard side helm has ample room for a 17-inch Garmin MFD, a VHF radio, a few essential rocker switches and DTS throttles to control the Twin Volvo D6 diesels with IPS drives. Doublewide captain seating, an identical companion seat and an aft L-shaped settee with a table comprise the flybridge layout, which is accessed through a traditional teak step and rail staircase.
Regal is a leader in forward bow redesign, and it incorporates a versatile seating/sunning lounge area on the 42 Fly. The foredeck lounge cushions can be arranged in a variety of positions: Upright; laid flat with a backrest; or laid flat to create a large sunpad.
Partnering with Richardson Yacht Interiors, Regal focused tremendous effort on interior design. The blend of wood, vinyl and fabric treatments enhances a sense of oneness with the environment. An aft galley counter smartly joins the interior salon and aft patio, creating an extended open space for entertaining. A nifty sleight of hand all but eliminates the sliding doors.
A king-size bed with ample walkaround space awaits in the aft master, complete with a settee sofa, a cedar lined armoire with storage drawers and a head.
The forward stateroom takes full advantage of the 13-foot-wide beam, featuring an island California queen bed with full walkaround space and built-in storage drawers on the base.

Basa’s Marine currently has a 42 Fly in stock in Chicago that’s ready for delivery. Snag this innovative addition to Regal’s roster, which is ideal for couples and families looking to mix summer cruising and weekends on-board at the marina.
