A stylish bowrider, and more!

by Capt. Tom Serio

New for 2016 is the Sea Ray 280 SLX — and don’t assume that this is just another bowrider. Sea Ray packs in features and cutting-edge handling, while retaining sophistication in design and layout to please everyone.

The hull design includes Sea Ray’s quietRIDE™ technology, delivering reduced noise, vibration and harshness. It essentially brings those onboard closer to the natural environment, while reducing operational sounds and fatigue. Coupled with the standard 350hp MerCruiser 6.2L V-8 Bravo III, the 280 SLX is a screamer.

With an expansive deck layout, there’s plush seating from the bow lounge seats with arm rests to the transom sunpad with ratcheting backrest for aft-facing seating. And there’s room for an optional bar.

Stay out longer with the enclosed head compartment in the port helm, with portlight, pump-out portable head and sink. A pressurized water system makes cleanup easy.

Enjoy the twin helm bench slider seat with flip-up bolsters and tilt/power steering at the helm, complete with SmartCraft throttle controls Or, upgrade to the Dynamic Display that integrates multi-systems into a neat 12-inch touchscreen.

“The SLX is distinguished not only by the combination of exclusive features, but by the design and attention to detail including sculpted hullsides, diamond stitching and advanced construction practices that narrow the required space in the gunnels to provide the maximum amount of interior space,” a Sea Ray rep says.

Have toys and gear? The 280 SLX can store them in numerous storage compartments under the deck, in the cockpit sides and under the seats. Details like drink holders, integrated speakers, wrapped grabrails, filler cushions and drop-in tables are a few standard features.

Options are numerous and include a state-of-the-art hydraulic swim platform, Dynamic Running Surface, electric tower with articulation Bimini, shore power connection, gel coat colors, ski/tow/tower upgrades, anchoring system and a whole lot more.

Max out the sporty Sea Ray 280 SLX and become one with the environment in luxurious comfort and stylish design.
