Ohio Adds 13 Clean Marinas in 2018

By June 18, 2019No Comments

Since its inception in 2003, the Ohio Clean Marinas has certified 79 marinas across the state with base, gold or platinum status. Last year the program added 13 marinas to its list: Bay Point Marina in Marblehead and Caesar Creek State Park Marina both earned platinum status; City of Sandusky Paper District Marina, Holiday Harbor Marina, Huron Lagoons Marina and Huron Yacht Club received gold status; and Ashtabula Yacht Club, Fairport Harbor Rod & Reel Association, Forest City Yacht Club, Son Rise Marina and South Shore Yacht Supply were recertified. All 13 were awarded at the Ohio Marina Conference that took place in February at Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton.

The program began as a partnership between the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio Sea Grant in order to encourage those in the marine industry, including marina owners and local and federal agencies, to balance “environmental sustainability and economic stability,” according to a press release.
