- With the purchase of a “Wear It” paper life jacket at any West Marine Store this month you’ll help support the West Marine BlueFuture and the National Safe Boating Council’s (NSBC) goal of promoting life jacket safety. The NSBC and West Marine partnership coincides with National Safe Boating Week May 18-24.

Other ways to join the efforts include wearing a life jacket every time on the water and pledging to do so online, as well as using the hashtag #wearit while posting on social media about the benefits of staying safe on the water.
“The National Safe Boating Council is committed to ensuring boater safety while on the water. By working with the NSBC, West Marine’s goal is not only to generate greater awareness for wearing a life jacket, but also to educate boaters on the importance of safe boating habits,” says Laura Barry, director of marketing communications at West Marine. “It’s vitally important that we encourage adults and kids alike to wear life jackets when spending time out on the water.”
West Marine’s BlueFuture distributes grants that support organizations aimed at teaching kids about boating, fishing, paddling and marine sciences.
