Evinrude Donates $2 Million to ABYC Foundation

By February 22, 2019No Comments

In what is said to be the largest donation of its kind, Evinrude announced it is donating two million dollars’ worth of Evinrude ETEC G2 3.4L V6 outboards to the American Boat and Yacht Council Foundation, in order to promote and support marine technician training. The National Marine Distributors Association will be matching funds in order for schools to receive test tanks and other tools.

The ABYC works with schools and universities across the country while Evinrude provides online courses. After completing the online courses, students can go to Evinrude’s technical training centers for a certification.

“Recreational boats are becoming increasingly more integrated, which requires technicians to be well versed in a multitude of advanced systems,” says Tracy Crocker, Evinrude’s senior vice president and general manager. “By donating Evinrude engines and our training curriculum, we are providing the tools necessary to increase the number of certified professionals trained to service modern, technologically-advanced direct fuel-injection engines.”
