Mercury Marine Expands R&D Facility

By April 11, 2018No Comments

Mercury Marine’s global headquarters in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin is now under construction. The company has broken ground on a new $10 million Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) facility that is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The NVH facility will conduct research and development into the study of noise, vibration and harshness in order to create quieter, smoother engines. The two-story expansion will house office space, as well as two marine-specific hemi-anechoic chambers, structural dynamic testing bays and listening rooms. The marine chambers are designed to mimic being on the open water but without additional outside noises.

This new expansion will add 20,000 square feet to the headquarters’ current 2.5 million-square-foot campus. The company has invested more than $800 million in expansion and R&D projects since 2009.
