Evansville Hyrdofest

Greg Hopp from Renton, Washington drove his MISS LUCAS OIL-sponsored hydroplane to victory in the Grand Prix Inboard class to claim the APBA North American Championship title on September 3, 2017 at the Evansville Hydrofest. Hopp piloted his 25-foot, 3,200-pound craft powered by 468-cubic-inch supercharged/fuel injected V8 engine running on methanol and producing 1,500 hp to take the crown on the Ohio River race course. The Grand Prix’s are the fastest and largest of the American Power Boat Association Inboard classes, and are organized and presented by Grand Prix Worldwide (GPW). —Paul Kemiel
