Zodiac and Torqeedo Develop Electric Tender Concept

Watch out Elon Musk: Zodiac Nautic Group and Torqeedo have teamed up and developed the eJET Concept, a 100 percent electric tender. The companies are currently working on a commercial range of eJETs that are expected to hit the market in 2019.

An electric tender could offer a number of benefits to yacht owners: It would require a single fuel type on-board, no oil changes, have increased reliability, and reduce maintenance costs. The eJET Concept is equipped with an 80-hp Deep Blue electric motor and a lithium battery from Torqeedo. In tests, the eJET operated for 90 minutes with normal use and could reach a max speed of 26 knots.

No detail was overlooked on the eJET, which features a number of luxury touches. It boasts carbon-textured hypalon fabric, upholstery by Serge Ferrari with a quilted finish hand-sewn in France, and leather-wrapped handles.
