McMurdo Four-Frequency EPIRB

By February 22, 2017No Comments

You don’t want to wonder which distress signal to use in an emergency. With a new line of distress beacons, McMurdo takes away indecision by combining multiple frequencies into a single beacon.

The McMurdo SmartFind and Kannad SafePro EPIRBs are the world’s first distress beacons that utilize four frequencies commonly used in search and rescue operations: 406MHz and 121.5MHz for beacon transmission; GNSS for location positioning; and AIS for localized connectivity.

The all-in-one beacons are also compatible with MEOSAR — an international search and rescue satellite system that can locate a beacon within 328 feet in five minutes.
