There’s a new power couple on the block now that Malibu Boats has licensed its industry-leading wakesurfing technology to Chaparral Boats. Malibu is known among wakesurfing enthusiasts for Surf Gate, which creates large, smooth waves on either side of the boat.
With Malibu’s blessing, Chaparral will manufacture and use tweaked versions of Malibu’s tech to equip select models. Chaparral executive vice president Buck Pegg says Malibu’s innovations combined with Chaparral’s Volvo Penta Forward Drive creates an incredible wake. Chaparral hopes to reach markets not directly served by Malibu or its Axis Wake Research brand, so more boaters can experience the thrill of wakesurfing.
