Smoker Craft Mourns John Babbitt

By November 30, 2016No Comments

Smoker Craft is mourning the passing of John Babbitt, the company’s international sales manager. Babbitt passed away at his home in Indianapolis in late November at the age of 69.

In a statement, Smoker Craft called Babbitt a larger-than-life personality that will be sorely missed. Babbitt was born in Austria, and first served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander. He then began his decades-long career in the recreational marine industry. He started with Starcraft in the early 1970s, followed by a stint running his own company with partner Ed Cheikh in the 1980s. He then returned to Smoker Craft in 2002.

Babbitt will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and love of fine dining, travel and French wines.
