Whether it’s night or day, Sirius Signal has boaters covered in emergency situations. The company has now developed the marketplace’s first non-toxic marine smoke signal device for recreational boaters: The Daytime Distress Orange Smoke Signal Device.
The handheld device releases billowing orange smoke for more than 60 seconds once activated. The smoke signal can be used single-handedly. It’s also non-toxic and environmentally-friendly.
“This is a game changer,” says Anthony Covelli, CEO of Sirius Signal. “For the first time in the history of boating, a boater can effectively use a safe daytime VDS signal without the pitfalls of traditional expiry smoke flare products that contain toxic perchlorates.”
The Daytime Distress Orange Smoke Device is part of Sirius Signal’s line of environmentally-friendly boating safety products. Last year, the same team developed the SOS Distress Light. The orange smoke device is currently in regulatory phases with the U.S. Coast Guard.
