It’s time for fans of Volvo Penta products to pull out their pocketbooks: The company has unveiled a slew of new products with the goal of making boating easier and more enjoyable. These include the D8 diesel engine, an expanded range of IPS, a joystick for inboards and an e-Key Remote.
The D8 diesel engine will be available for both IPS and inboard shaft applications. Volvo says the D8 meets growing demand for an engine with 550-600 hp. Volvo Penta believes the expanded range of IPS — the D8-IPS700 and D8-IPS800 — will bring superior maneuverability, high performance and low fuel consumption to a greater variety of boats. Volvo Penta’s joystick is also now available for inboard drives, making docking and other finicky maneuvers a snap. The e-Key Remote, part of the Battery Management Solution, makes unlocking and starting the boat similar to starting a car, while improving safety, uptime and security.
