Caterpillar Marine recently announced the availability of the Cat C12.9 high performance diesel engine for recreational and commercial applications.
Over the past four years, the C12.9 completed successful reliability and durability testing in test cells and numerous high performance vessels, accumulating over 13,000 endurance hours on the water. The new engine will offer high power density, fast acceleration and quiet operation.
“Through its extensive testing, the C12.9 earned particularly high marks for its low noise, fast transient response and available power,” Bruce Strupp, Caterpillar Marine Propulsion Solutions manager notes.
The electronically controlled C12.9 is offered in two power ratings: 850 mhp at 2,300 rpm and 1,000 mhp at 2,300 rpm.
