Kick Off the Holiday Season with the Merry-Time Festival of Trees

By November 3, 2015No Comments

Right in the thick of the holiday season, the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, will host their fourth Merry-Time Festival of Trees. Festival-goers can wander the museum’s galleries from November 14 to December 8 and observe 38 different artificial trees and wreaths — each uniquely decorated by local businesses and organizations. Festival-goers who become especially enamored of a particular tree or wreath will have to chance to enter a raffle in order to take their favorite tree home, right in time for the holidays.

In addition to the holiday tree display, the Merry-Time Festival of Trees will also host other events throughout the month. A “Stress-Free” Holiday Cooking Demo by Serves You Right Catering will teach how to best utilize what’s in your pantry and freezer during holiday crunch time. The “Tail Waggin’ Fun Kid’s Day” will center around the Maritime Museum’s Sea Dogs exhibit, and have a dog-themed scavenger hunt, face painting, crafts and games. On December 5, families will have the opportunity to see Santa on the tugboat John Purves to ask for last-minute Christmas gifts. Adults will have plenty of events to attend as well, including a more in-depth discussion of the museum’s Sea Dogs exhibit on World War II K-9 beach patrols.

The Merry-Time Festival of Trees will wrap up on December 8 with the “Jingle, Jingle, Mix & Mingle” celebration, which will feature a hors d’oeuvres buffet, an auction, and the big tree raffle drawing. To mingle, guests must purchase tickets and RSVP.
