Santa Claus Returns to the Tug

By December 5, 2014No Comments

Good ole’ Saint Nick will be taking a break from making naughty and nice lists and will visit the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, December 6.

His appearance highlights a day that also will include story time with a book signing of “A Door Night Before Christmas.” The book, which talks about Christmastime in Door County, including references to Cana Lighthouse, Eagle Tower and Belgian pies, will be read by author Carol Davis and illustrator Jan Rasmussen.

During his visit, Santa will welcome children aboard the museum’s 95-year-old, in-water tug, John Purves. Once on board the 149-foot tugboat, children will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him their Christmas wishes.

The event will be held in conjunction with the museum’s Merry-Time Festival of Trees. Sponsored by local businesses and organizations, more than 40 trees and wreaths are spread throughout the museum. An extensive silent auction also is being held December 6, featuring Door County artwork, holiday ornaments, wreaths, and other items.
