At the annual International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) held in September, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced winners of the 2014 IBEX Innovation Awards.
NMMA created the Innovation Awards program to recognize companies with significant contributions to marine technology.
A sampling of the 2014 award recipients by category include:
• Boatbuilding Methods and Materials — Protomet Corporation’s G4 Tower
• Furnishings and Interior Parts —Kenyon International’s Silken Grill Lid
• Inboard Engines — Mercury Marine’s MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp sterndrive
• Outboard Engine — Suzuki Motor of America’s DF25A 25hp outboard engine.
Additional Innovation Awards went to companies for their deck equipment and hardware, mechanical systems, electrical systems, boatyard hardware/software and dealer equipment, propulsion parts, boat care and maintenance, OEM electronics, trailer, parts and trailer accessories, and environmental efforts.
