Boating & Outdoor Festival a Success

By September 22, 2014No Comments

The Boating & Outdoor Festival, held at the Lake St. Clair Metropark September 11-14, marked the fifth year exhibitors, boaters and sailors gathered to explore what’s new in the boating industry.

This year’s event was deemed a success by Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA), the event producer, along with exhibitors, who presented to 10,956 attendees. While overall attendance was down 4 percent from 2013 due to rain, many exhibitors reported sales and leads increased.

“While the weather deterred our Thursday and Friday crowds, the weekend had a great turnout,” says show manager Nicki Polan. “We’re pleased at the success of the event and seeing boat sales continue to increase in Michigan. Excellent support from our local media helped us as well.”

Hundreds of boats were on display in-water and on-land at the 2014 show, along with fun events for children, pets and live music.

“After years of pent-up demand, we attribute the improving Michigan economy to the increase of boat sales,” says Polan. “People in Michigan are passionate about boating and fishing.”

The 2015 Boating & Outdoor Festival is scheduled for September 17-20, 2015.
