USPS Offers Online Weather Course for Boaters

By September 12, 2014No Comments

Have you ever been out on the boat, soaking in some much-need rays, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a terrifying storm appears on the horizon, heading straight for your location?

This scenario can, in most cases, be avoided after participating in the all-new online course called Weather for Boaters, being offered by the United State Power Squadrons (USPS) and BoatUS Foundation.

Weather for Boaters provides an easy-to-follow guide for forecasting winds and storms to help anticipate weather changes while out on the water.

The course teaches the basics of understanding storms, air masses, fronts, cloud formations, squalls, fog, and wind shifts so boaters can make informed decisions on whether or not to boat. The course also touches on how to use a barometer and weather map.

Weather for Boaters is available for the discounted price of $29.95 until September 30. Members of USPS, USCG Auxilary and the Great Lakes Cruising Club also are eligible for discounts on the course price.
