Sturgeon Bay Celebrates Maritime Week

The city of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin honors its maritime heritage July 31-August 10 during “Sturgeon Bay Maritime Week: A Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard.” 

This annual waterfront event features entertainment such as the Sail Thru the Avenues Sidewalk Sale July 31 and the Door County Classic and Wooden Boat Festival beginning August 2.

Other events include “Evening on the Bay” at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club; the Sikaflex Challenge boatbuilding competition; and “Paint the Bay” plein air painting. Maritime Week wraps up August 10 with the annual Mariner Award and Coast Guard Person of the Year dinner at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.

In addition to honoring Sturgeon Bay’s maritime history this year, the week also honors local Coast Guard personnel of past and present.
