Since 1994, the Traverse Area Community Sailing Group (TACS) has been on a mission to provide sailing to the Grand Traverse region and help inspire young sailors. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014, the non-profit organization offers sailing programs for youths, high school students and adults, as well as adaptive sailing — a program that’s inclusive to sailors with physical disabilities, senior citizens and veterans. The goal of TACS is to promote sailing while also instilling respect for the water and making it accessible and affordable to all. Season passes range from $85 to $300.
This summer, TACS will host the 2014 U.S. Sailing Chubb Junior Championship for high school students, taking place August 4-9 at the Grand Traverse Yacht Club.
