TowBoatUS Opens Sault Ste. Marie Operation

By May 21, 2014No Comments

Captain Gordon MacMaster, who has years of experience navigating the difficult waterways of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Ontario, just opened a TowBoatUs franchise, offering boaters 24/7, on-water towing service in the region.

The St. Marys River is a long, narrow waterway, running between the Canadian Border and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Known for its recreational boating and fishing hotspots, the waterway is regularly bustling with boaters; however, it’s also full of shipping freighters that share this portion of the Sweetwater Seas.

To help calm boaters intimidated by the large freighters, McMaster and TowBoatUS will be on call to lend a hand; whether they run out of fuel, need a battery jump, or require towing. TowBoatUS services are available for boaters in U.S. and Canadian waters 24/7, and boaters can contact McMaster and the Sault Ste. Marie operation by hailing on VHF channel 16.

MacMaster holds a USCG 100-ton Masters license and spent 12 years training boat handlers for the Michigan Army National Guard, and another 17 years running a 66-foot supply boat for U.S. Steel on the Great Lakes. Needless to say, he knows his way around.
