The Antique Boat Museum (ABM) in Clayton, New York recently received a donation from one of country music’s biggest stars. Alan Jackson, known for being one of the most-nominated artists in County Music Association (CMA) history, has contributed a 1955 29-foot Chris-Craft Semi-Enclosed to ABM’s already impressive collection of historic and classic boats.
Jackson says he donated the boat, which he named Flat Top, to ABM because of his fondness of and appreciation for the museum’s preservation efforts.
“Wooden boats have always been my first love,” Jackson says. “I’ve really appreciated the Antique Boat Museum’s efforts at preserving the history of antique wooden boats.”
Flat Top, whose name refers to the flat top, steel-string acoustic guitars commonly used by Jackson, is one of just 36 of these boats ever built by Sarasota, Florida-based Chris-Craft.
