Futuristic elegance.
by Capt. Tom Serio
Having built pontoons for 60 years, Harris has won awards for styling and innovation.
One exemplary offering is the Harris Crowne 250, which won the 2013 NMMA Innovation Award.
Blending futuristic elegance with practical needs, the Crowne 250 delivers style, plenty of layout options and features that cannot be overlooked.
Essentially eliminating hard corners, the Crowne’s form is inviting, and its forward swept sport arch will appeal to thrill seekers. A closer inspection reveals comfortable seats, from the forward bench seats with back padding to the captain’s chair with full back support and armrests. Depending on the model, there are twin aft-facing loungers, portside bar stools, a rear lounger, dual helm seats and more. Choose from multiple floor plans.
Options can make the pontoon, and the Crowne 250 has a plethora to choose from. Opt for the entertainment galley with stainless drawers and fridge, or the teak table, grill, upgraded stereo system, hydraulic steering, teak flooring and single/twin engine options. Dazzle riders with the underdeck and underwater LED light packages.
Harris has several performance packages to fit your needs. Each package offers variations of an additional center tube, lifting strakes, a skin kit (to reduce drag), a keel, a motor pod and more. The twin engine option with Joystick Piloting includes independent engine movement, additional V-hull shaping and fuel transfer to the center cell for improved weight distribution. Customize your options to get the right boat that fits all your needs, from a stable ride and greater fuel economy with lifting strakes, to greater control, improved handling, higher horsepower ratings and higher speeds with one of the performance packages.
Harris didn’t cut corners at the helm, as evident by the cross-stitched tilt steering wheel and helm seat with double-diamond stitching. With several facets making up the console, there’s room for a digital depthsounder, analog gauges, a GPS, a speedometer, a tachometer, Glass Dash touch-screens and more.
With Harris celebrating its diamond jubilee, maybe you should get the Crowne.
