An innovative design lets this yacht enjoy the outdoors like never before.

There are many pleasures that come with owning a boat, but few can match those quiet moments lounging on the swim platform with a cool drink in hand, watching the sun set over the lake with an unobstructed view.

The engineers at Galeon Yachts have built on that idea with the company’s new 500 Fly — and they didn’t stop at the swim platform. On this boat, the aft gunnels lower down and out, extending the cockpit with expansive side balconies that provide unsurpassed all-around views. The portside balcony even has a bar, complete with a pair of barstools, while outward-facing seating to starboard ensures everyone can watch the action in comfort.

The optional transom bench seat rests on a turntable base, allowing it to rotate 360 degrees so you can enjoy the view from any direction. The transom seat also lifts up, providing access to the spacious tender garage below.

“The 500 Fly has so many innovative features,” says Barbara Walsh of Elite Yachts Chicago/Marine Max Partner and Service Center (eliteyachtschicago.com; 708-841-5660). “The Beach Mode with drop down gunnels and opening side glass allows you to experience this innovation in a truly remarkable way; you can be in the galley and feel as if you are outside — you have to see it to believe it. There is also a hydraulic platform with integrated stairs. At 50 feet, this boat has it all.”

The high-end walnut interior features plush seating and large windows that let in plenty of sunlight. The galley at the rear of the salon also serves the outside bar when the rear balconies are deployed. Rich upholstery work and fine attention to detail throughout ensure a superlative fit and finish to further set the 500 apart. There’s little wonder it was named the European Powerboat of the Year for 2016.

Below decks you’ll find a well-appointed VIP suite for guests with ensuite access to the roomy day head, plus a second guest cabin to starboard with bunks. The full-beam master suite offers lavish appointments, a spacious and stately ensuite head, and in-suite laundry. Throughout, Galeon’s impeccable design speaks to the yacht’s high build quality and luxurious materials.
