Starting this fall, the Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville, Michigan, will now offer the 12-month Mercury Marine Maintenance Program, thanks to a recent partnership with Mercury Marine and Mercury University.
The 42-credit-hour program allows students to receive the Mercury Maintenance Certificate upon completion, which will enable them to further advance toward becoming a full Mercury technician upon employment status at a Mercury dealer. The program includes extensive hands-on training on Mercury-supplied equipment.
“We have a large number of dealers in the Great Lakes region who are looking to hire qualified technicians,” says Nick Van Nocker, training technology manager at Mercury University. “This partnership allows us to focus on providing qualified marine technicians for this area of the country. It benefits our dealers and our customers, all of whom are getting better-trained technicians.”
