The popular marine navigation company savvy navvy announced the launch of its new motorboat functionality, making marine navigation safer and easier for a variety of boaters. Founded in 2017 by former Google software engineer Jelte Liebrand, savvy navvy has focused on removing the traditional barriers to boating, making it safer and easier to get out on the water by providing all of the essential information for planning a trip at sea in one easy place.
“On average sailors check up to four different apps when planning a trip at sea,” Liebrand says. “The technology is often outdated and cumbersome to use, which can make planning a trip at sea somewhat intimidating. Our team has worked to create a platform that provides essential marine information that is easy to access and understand, in one app.”
Traditionally the app targeted the sailing market, but now motorboaters can take advantage of the clever algorithm that provides weather forecasts, tides and charts, and plots complex routes all from one simple app. The app can help find the best route for either motorboats or sailboats, and estimates your ETA.
With the new functionality of the app, motorboats can adjust their settings like engine cruising speed and fuel efficiency to help the app plot routes based on motoring only.
