Over the summer, Tennessee-based organizations MasterCraft and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital joined forces in the ‘Surf to Save Lives’ campaign to bring awareness to and raise support for the work of St. Jude in researching and treating childhood cancer and other pediatric diseases. MasterCraft incentivized boaters from all over the country to get out on the water and log their time wakeboarding, water-skiing or wakesurfing, vouching to donate $1 for every minute of on-water activity tracked, with a maximum donation of $75,000.
The successful ‘Surf to Save Lives’ campaign resulted in a $75,000 MasterCraft donation to St. Jude. “We are beyond excited to be writing St. Jude Children’s Hospital a check for $75,000 and further support their mission of finding cures and saving children,” says Krista Schipner, vice president of marketing for MasterCraft. “On behalf of MasterCraft, we thank the incredible community of boaters who got on board and participated in this year’s inaugural program. Together, we can make a real difference by raising funds and increasing awareness for a very worthy cause.”
Former professional wakeboarder and TV host Alexa Score supported the campaign as its official spokesperson. As a MasterCraft ambassador and childhood cancer survivor herself, Score spearheaded awareness efforts and took a leading role in helping the brand reach its goal of donating $75,000.
“Having gone through cancer treatment myself, I know first-hand just how impactful campaigns like these truly are in creating awareness and raising funds to support organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” adds Score. “It was an honor and extremely special for me to have had the opportunity to work alongside MasterCraft and promote such a worthwhile cause.”
