All Great Lakes water levels are currently close to the long-term average, reports a recent article from MLive.com. There are no radical projections of big rises or big falls expected on the Great Lakes, with near-normal water levels into the fall, which is a good sign for the recreation and industries that support Great Lakes communities, as well as reduced risk of shore erosion and flooding.
Since record-high water levels on Lake Michigan during COVID in 2020, the Lake Michigan-Huron basin has fallen over three feet compared to July 2020, and water levels on Lake Michigan are nearly a foot lower than last July, a sign the lake may be entering into a longer term period of slightly lower water levels, reports WWMT.
