Marine Trades Institute President Nikki Storey will step down from her leadership role at the institute after over ten years of service, as she moves on to a new position as CEO of Headwaters North. The current Director of Education Dr. Brody Waybrant will step in as Interim President at the institute as the search for a new president commences.
“Leading the Marine Trades Institute has been the greatest honor of my career, and what we’ve accomplished here is the direct result of a shared commitment,” says Storey. “I am immensely grateful for the dedication of our staff, the strategic vision of our board, and the steadfast support of our donors and industry partners. Most of all, I am proud of our students, whose ambition continues to inspire everything we do.”
During her tenure, the institute achieved significant milestones in accreditation, enrollment growth and community engagement, developing a strong team and securing vital donor and industry support to achieve a $2.8 million annual economic impact.
“Nikki has been the driving force behind the school’s success. Her vision and energy have shaped the institute into what it is today – a thriving center for workforce development,” says Joseph D. Reid, chairman of the board. “Her legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come, and we are confident in our ability to build on the strong foundation she has created.”
“The Board has full confidence in Dr. Waybrant’s leadership and his unwavering commitment to our students and staff,” adds Storey. “As we look to the future, I am confident that the momentum we have built at the Marine Trades Institute will continue to grow.”
