The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) announced its 2026 Outstanding Technician Award winners during International Marine Service Technician Week, held April 20 – 24. The annual awards recognize 10 marine technicians for excellence in customer service, technical expertise, training and mentorship.
Winners include many Great Lakes area technicians, including Kevin Anderson of Crate’s Lake Country Boats in Orillia, Ontario; Julia Briggs of Irish Boat Shop in Harbor Springs, Michigan; Scott Stephen of Walstrom Marine in Harbor Springs, Michigan; Chris Teal of Irish Boat Shop in Charlevoix, Michigan; and Ryan White of Boyne Boat Yard in Boyne City, Michigan.
ABYC also recognized three “New Achiever” recipients — early-career professionals who show exceptional skill and promise — including Sam Hansz of Boyne Boat Yard.
Now in its fifth year, the program highlights the critical role technicians play in keeping boats safe, reliable and ready for the water.
