Premier handcrafted wooden boat builder StanCraft Wooden Boats unveiled its first customer-delivered 340 Hammerhead E built in collaboration with high-performance electric marine propulsion company Zin Boats out of Seattle. The 340 Hammerhead E is a fully electric, closed-bow premium runabout built entirely from wood and powered by batteries engineered to the same safety standards used on the International Space Station.
“After 93 years of building boats, we’re still pushing the envelope. This build pairs fresh innovation with the time-honored craftsmanship that built our name,” says Robb Bloem, owner of StanCraft Wooden Boats.
StandCraft’s decades of experience building handcrafted wooden boats united with the expertise of the company behind the world’s most advanced electric superyacht tender, the Z11, built for Feadship’s Project 821, results in a premium runabout that is the first 100% wood hull ever built with Zin Marine Propulsion technology.
“We were initially apprehensive about fitting precision-engineered batteries into a wooden boat. We machine everything to hundreds-of-a-millimeter tolerances — it’s almost spaceship-level precision. But all four batteries were installed in under 45 minutes. The boat was built so precisely, everything was exactly where it needed to be, and it just went together,” explains Piotr Zin, founder and CEO of Zin Boats.
The 340 Hammerhead E is powered by twin liquid-cooled electric motors producing a combined 1,448 horsepower and 1,900 foot-pounds of torque, with a top speed estimated at around 50 miles per hour, with a 440 kWh battery system.
“Every dock is a gas station. It doesn’t matter what size plug you have — 110, 220, 30-amp, 50-amp — the boat will charge with whatever you have available. You come back, plug it in, and next morning it’s sitting there ready for you. You never have to see a gas station all summer,” adds Zin.
The 340 Hammerhead E is fully equipped with dual 9-inch Raymarine multi-function displays, Dometic Optimus joystick steering for effortless docking, digital switching, a high-voltage heater system and a drawer fridge, delivering refined amenities with revolutionary power.
