Clayton, New York’s Antique Boat Museum (ABM) has officially opened the George C. Textor, Jr. Boat Shop, a new facility dedicated to the care, maintenance and preservation of its permanent boat and engine collections.
Designed in partnership with BCA Architects & Engineers and Con Tech Building Systems, the boat shop provides dedicated space for professional restoration work while expanding the museum’s ability to preserve its historic fleet. Leaders say the facility strengthens ABM’s mission to celebrate freshwater boating history on the St. Lawrence River.
Beyond preservation, the boat shop will enhance educational programming with hands-on learning opportunities for students, professionals and visitors. Museum officials say it will foster interest in marine trades while allowing guests to see restoration work in action year-round.
