“Points North” Podcast Will Feature at Marquette’s Fresh Coast Film Festival

By October 5, 2026No Comments

The 2026 Fresh Coast Film Festival in Marquette, Michigan, from October 15 to 18 will feature Interlochen Public Radio’s “Points North” podcast, the first time in the festival’s history it has programmed an audio-only block in their film lineup. This is the tenth year of the Fresh Coast Film Festival, which unites environmental and cultural filmmaking from around the world, creating a venue for a culture around Great Lakes storytelling.

“The Fresh Coast Film Festival embodies what we try to do in every Points North episode: capture the spirit of the Great Lakes through true stories of grit, wonder, and adventure alongside America’s inland seas,” says host and executive producer Dan Wanschura. “We’re beyond excited to be featured so prominently as part of the Fresh Coast experience.”

Interlochen Public Radio has been a contributor and sponsor of the festival since 2022, sometimes partnering with various filmmakers on some of the films that have shown.

“If Fresh Coast was a podcast it’d be Points North and vice versa,” adds festival co-founder Aaron Peterson. “Dan and IPR were the first media to truly get what Fresh Coast hoped to be, so it’s no surprise these are the folks that created Points North and it’s now a natural partnership of mutual respect.”

Prior to the festival, the “Points North” team will present a free listening party premiere on Monday, Oct. 12 at 7pm at The Filling Station Microbrewery in Traverse City.
