So much to see! So much to do! We are cramming it in these last couple weeks before we say au revoir to Canada. After a wonderful few days in the Bustard Islands, we made an extremely early morning run over to Killarney where we hunkered down for some windy days. Turns out this was exactly what we needed.

The town of Killarney is well-known for the Killarney Mountain Lodge. This relaxing, historic lodge has just about everything we missed since leaving Midland and the Trent-Severn. From restaurants and ice cream to some actual civilization, we were rejuvenated at the perfect time. After dozens of nights on anchor coming up Georgian Bay, we enjoyed some marina time at the Sportsman’s Inn Resort & Marina, which is a sister property to Killarney Mountain Lodge. 

While in Killarney, we treated ourselves to a nice dinner at The Ranch House, a steakhouse on the lodge’s property, in addition to taking full advantage of all the on-site amenities such as the pool, sauna and canoe rentals. Between delicious food, like the fish & chips at Herbert Fisheries, and hiking opportunities, we stayed busy during our time in town. Killarney Mountain Lodge is also known for the “World’s Largest Paddle,” a random site I never thought I’d come across.

From Killarney we hopped over to the Benjamin Islands, another must-stop while in Canada. Ripley absolutely loved swimming in the bright blue waters and exploring each and every surrounding rock. The rejuvenation continued with a chill day of hanging out with friends and cooking dinner over a fire. This was an adventure in itself, but we were determined to succeed!

It’s starting to hit us that our time in Canada is coming to a close. We will hold this summer ever so closely to our hearts — it is one we’ll never forget. Evan has been soaking in all the final casts of his fishing pole, Ripley is savoring all the new scents she’s come across, and I am taking in all the natural beauty before we cross back into the United States this upcoming week. 

Wish us luck as the month ahead will require careful weather planning with each and every movement coming down Lake Michigan. We are ready to continue the adventure!
