ABM Announces Need for Speed! Event

Instead of the annual Regatta weekend, the Antique Boat Museum (ABM) will hold an alternative event called Need for Speed! on August 17 along the St. Lawrence River in Clayton, New York.

A small group of members of the traditional racing scene is working with the ABM to conduct the alternative event. Activities will include workshops, round-table discussions, raceboats, food trucks, live music and more. Active duty and retired military members and Wounded Warriors and their families will be honored with special activities during the day. 

The ABM said the decision to not hold the Regatta this year was influenced by a number of factors, but that the three-day Biennial Raceboat Regatta will come back in the summer of 2020. The organization is asking visitors at Need for Speed! to give feedback and input on the event and past Regatta events in order to assist in creating a new look and feel for the Biennial weekend, which began in 1992.
