The partnership between Albemarle Boats and Spencer Sportfish to build the Albemarle 53 Spencer Edition is well underway, as construction on the first 53 began earlier this month at Albemarle’s Edenton, North Carolina location.

The 53-foot custom Carolina boat will boast a flybridge design and incorporate the classic styling Spencer is known for with the quality and innovation of Albemarle. It will also feature a hull designed specifically for high speeds and seakeeping ability.

“Our team is truly excited as many months of planning are now coming to life. The 53 hull will be vacuum infused with vinylester resin and foam core, making it our strongest, yet lightest design to date,” explains Keith Privott, Albemarle director of sales and product development. “The entire boat is loaded with innovative details and features that will set new standards in the world of sportfishing and allow our customers to go further and do more.”

The interior boasts an open salon layout with three staterooms and two heads, and the island helm design offers a forward-facing lounge and bench seating to accommodate multiple people and offer high visibility from the bridge.

At 160 square feet, the large cockpit includes a transom fishbox, transom door and a mezzanine design that allows for engine access and includes molded boxes that are customizable to offer plenty of storage.

“While our custom boats have gotten increasingly larger in recent years, I have always appreciated boats in the 50-foot class and recognized their true competitive tournament ability,” says Spencer Sportfish President Paul Spencer. “This project is a return to our boatbuilding roots, and we are really looking forward to having this 53-footer to offer.”
