Wendy Tuck, a sailor from Australia, is the first woman to ever win a round-the-world sailing competition by completing the Clipper 2017-18 Race.
Going into the final race of the Clipper 2017-18, which finished at the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool, United Kingdom, Tuck was already in the lead. The 53-year-old from Sydney claimed the prize in the Sanya Serenity, ahead of the second-place finisher, Nikki Henderson, a 25-year-old from England.
“I can’t believe it,” Tuck says. “It hasn’t really sunk in really but I am just so happy. It is so, so special.”
