Standing out from the crowd.

When it comes to the fun and flexible express cruiser design, the North American market has long been dominated by names like Cruisers Yachts, Sea Ray, Four Winns and, more recently, Beneteau and Jeanneau.
Despite these boating giants, Azimut is aiming to change the game with its new Verve 40, a unique and lavish express cruiser with triple outboard power.
Selecting outboard power for the Verve 40 allowed Azimut to create a single-level cockpit that’s not only lower to the water than most typical express cruiser designs, but also offers many wide-open outside entertaining space. Teak decking just about everywhere creates a warm atmosphere and a unique boarding door in the aft port topside quarter makes hopping on-board easy. Folks who love laying in the sun will enjoy the expansive sunpad spaces on the foredeck. All in all, this departure from the typical layered wedding cake decks found on many express cruisers is refreshing.
Below, the Verve 40 has a forward, private master stateroom with a queen-size island berth and lots of natural light and ventilation. The main salon features a portside galley with a bench dinette adjacent to it. Farther aft is an enclosed shower and head. There isn’t a midcabin guest stateroom, but the dinette can be converted into a sleeping berth. As you’d expect from an Azimut, the interior is layered with lots of luxurious touches, including leather upholstery, stainless steel hardware and contemporary wood trim.
You would expect a large dollop of performance with 1,050 hp bellied up to the stern, and the Verve 40 doesn’t disappoint. Three big Mercurys push the Verve 40 to a top speed of 44 knots, and the sleek design efficiently cruises at a snappy 37 knots. The control center for all of these ponies is at the helm, which features joystick steering that integrates with the bow thruster to make docking a snap.
Federico Lantero, Azimut Yachts brand manager, says: “More sophisticated than a walkaround, more stylish than a center console, and more spacious than a day cruiser, the Azimut Verve 40 stands out from the crowd. The elegance of its styling and its spaciousness, featuring an extensive cabin area, gives it every right to call itself a weekender.”
