Italian boatbuilder Azimut Yachts has decided to refresh their 77S model with a punch of more power. The Azimut Yachts 77S will now be outfitted with Volvo Penta’s D13-IPS1350, the latest propulsion package in Volvo Penta’s IPS range.
“We have used more carbon fiber, which produces a more lightweight boat, and with IPS, there is more space in the engine room, so this gives more space on board for a tender or jet ski,” said Alessandro Rossi, chief technical officer for Azimut Yachts. “The combination means that customers have more options to load the boat and keep a good performance — it increases the flexibility of options.”
Azimut Yachts says it decided to go with Volvo Penta’s highest performing propulsion system due to the launch of another model, the S7. The S7 will be a smaller but similar model to the 77S. The boatbuilder said it in developing the S7 they decided they should update the 77S as well.
The D13-IPS1350 will include the usual traits Volvo Penta systems are known for, such as excellent handling, good fuel efficiency, a longer cruising range, reduced emissions, more space, and low noise and vibration.
