Beneteau, Annapolis Yacht Sales Donate Adapted Sailboats

Beneteau, in partnership with Annapolis Yacht Sales, has announced that it will donate two adapted sailboats to Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB), a nonprofit organization that provides sailing programs for the disabled, wounded warriors and kids from at-risk neighborhoods.

“When I saw the condition of some of CRAB’s sailboats and considered the amount of work it would take to modify the rigging on two of their boats, it didn’t make sense to spend that much money on older boats,” said Tim Wilbricht, the president and owner of Annapolis Yacht Sales. Originally, CRAB had asked Wilbricht to simply update rigging on its fleet. “I thought it would be a great idea to partner with Beneteau America and simply donate new boats.”

Beneteau American and Annapolis Yacht Sales both donated one sailboat. The boats are modified versions of the boatbuilder’s First 22 models, and hence called First 22A models. The new rigs will be unveiled during a brief ceremony on October 5 at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis.
