BoatU.S. Grassroots Grants Application Process Simplified

By March 8, 2016No Comments

Since 1989, BoatU.S. has awarded more than $1.3 million to fund organizations’ creative campaigns promoting safe and clean boating on local waterways. Now, it will be even easier for nonprofit community groups — such as boat clubs, angling and environmental organizations, USCG Auxiliary or U.S Power Squadrons — to apply for these Grassroots Grants.

Through the new 365-day rolling application process, organizations can apply for funding year-round. This flexible application calendar will allow for a speedier review process. The BoatU.S. grant program may provide up to $10,000 to help groups educate boaters on safe and clean boating topics. For example, past projects have installed fishing line recycling bins and provided hands-on educational opportunities on the effects of marine debris.

To apply, applicants must submit a short letter of intent explaining their idea. If the idea meets the Grassroots Grant program guidelines and seems strong, BoatU.S. will ask the applicant for a full proposal.
