A 13-question survey released by BoatU.S. asks boaters about ethanol fuels, how these fuels are impacting summer boating and what boater’s opinions and comments are on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
The RFS was passed in 2005 when it was predicted that gasoline usage would reach all-time highs in the years to come. The assumption wasn’t met, resulting in more ethanol being put into gallons of gas, producing E15 (15 percent ethanol mixed into fuel). Recreational boats are only allowed to use E10, or fuel with less than 10 percent ethanol.
By completing the survey, boaters can help BoatU.S. gain more information about fuel use. To take the survey, visit http://sgiz.mobi/s3/EthanolSurvey. For more information, visit SmarterFuelFuture.org.
