Bob Dougherty, the founder of EdgeWater and Everglades Boats, passed away in March at the age of 85. Many consider Dougherty a mover and shaker in the boating industry. Dougherty was a chief designer and senior vice president of engineering at Boston Whaler, before retiring in 1990. He then went on to create EdgeWater Power Boats in 1992 and Everglades Boats in 2001 with his son Stephen. All together, it’s estimated Dougherty’s work brought 1,000 jobs to Edgewater, Florida. Dougherty sold EdgeWater Power Boats in 1995 and Everglades Boats just last year. He is survived by his wife, four children and ten grandchildren.
