A refreshed “unsinkable” Whaler.
by Chris Caswell
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its “unsinkable” classics, Boston Whaler has introduced the new 210 Montauk.
This model bears the same simplicity, utility and reliability of earlier Montauks, but has been fully redesigned from the keel up for versatility, use of space and modern features.
At the bow you’ll find an integrated fishbox/storage compartment and bow locker with a fiberglass cover; both compartments have overboard drains. Aft, cushioned quarter seats are now standard in each corner, and the helm seat is reversible with a flip-forward locking backrest and ample stowage underneath.
“The new Montauk delivers true turnkey operation, helping boaters get out on the water quickly and easily, and helping to ensure they enjoy the experience,” says Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler.
Flagship of the Montauk family — a name that dates back to the first Boston Whaler models — the 210 Montauk is designed to be “hose-and-go,” making maintenance effortless for fishing, exploring and family fun.
The hull features the traditional Boston Whaler seaworthy ride, with a precision-engineered hull and Unibond construction. Standard power for the 210 Montauk is a Mercury 150-hp XL FourStroke outboard, while an optional Mercury 200-hp XL L6 DTS Verado features hydraulic steering.
Each 210 is fully customizable with a purpose-selected array of options. For anglers, a fishing package adds a 94-quart cooler seat with both cushion and backrest, plus tackle drawers and additional console-mounted rod holders. The Deluxe Leaning Post option includes a 30-gallon livewell and raw-water washdown. You can also add seatbacks to the forward seats for casual cruising. Electronics packages feature state-of-the-art Raymarine systems for navigation and fish-finding. The 210 Montauk — as well as the 190 Montauk — is offered with a “vintage-style” teak package that includes teak footing on the swim ladder and helm footrests.
To make the 210 Montauk a turn-key package, Boston Whaler includes a galvanized tandem axle trailer with swing tongue for easy storage, plus disk brakes and LED lighting for safe trailering. The 210 Montauk is an intriguing model for those who remember classic Whalers.
