At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas, Brunswick Corporation announced the introduction of its new Mercury Marine Avator 7.5e electric outboard, as well as the creation of its new brand Veer and the announcement of the first of its models to debut, the Veer X13.
The Avator 7.5e is the first in a series of electric outboards set to advance its electric offerings and provide cost-effective, low maintenance and environmentally friendly options to the marketplace.
“The Avator 7.5e is much more than just an outboard,” says Tim Reid, Mercury Marine vice president of product development and engineering. “We created an entire propulsion system, fully integrated from the advanced controls, props and digital gauges to an all-new mobile app. Every aspect was designed with the same attention to quality, durability and reliability as all Mercury products. We’re confident the Avator 7.5e outboard will deliver a superior boating experience for boaters interested in powering small vessels with electric propulsion.”
Boasting 750W of power, the motor delivers a similar speed to that of a Mercury 3.5-hp FourStroke outboard, offering clean, quiet power, tiller or remote steering, and a number of features including swappable batteries, quick-connect mountain system, intuitive controls, and a display to track battery range and level.
The battery is designed in partnership with Mastervolt and engineered for marine duty, with smart chargers to monitor voltage and shut down in case of an issue. The Avator 7.5e incorporates industry-first transverse flux motor technology and is compatible with the Mercury Marine App.
Along with the Avator 7.5e, Brunswick launched a new brand designed to be powered by Mercury Avator systems and Mercury FourStroke outboards. The first model of the new Veer brand is the X13, a 13-foot, multi-tool vessel built from durable rotomolded polyethylene and crafted by engineers at Lund Boats.
The X13 sports fishing-focused features, and is set to be available in spring 2023, starting at $11,995.
“Our target consumer is looking for a brand that brings new energy and new thinking to the outdoor experience,” says Matt Atilano, Veer director of strategy. “Through Veer, we look forward to delivering on these desires and on Brunswick’s promise to expand access to the water and democratize boating.”
